Recognition of 1912 Titanic Hero

A commemorative plaque to Harold Lowe, the 5th Officer of the Titanic was unveiled on the 15th April 2012 - one hundred years to the day after the Titanic sunk. Lowe was in command of the only lifeboat to return to the scene of the liner's sinking and rescue survivors who were still alive in the icy waters. Other boats stood away for fear of being swamped by survivors.Further details of the sinking of the Titanic are available here. Also, here is a link to actual film of the Titanic, Captain Smith and the 'Carpathia,' one of the ships that went to her aid .
